Michael Brennan Claims Second Top Ten Finish of Spring Season

PALM CITY, Fla.- Behind an under-par performance from senior Michael Brennan, the Wake Forest men's golf team wrapped up round three of the Valspar Collegiate Invitational on Tuesday. The Deacs finished in the middle of the pack in ninth place, with a final score of 858 (+6).
The field included 11 of the top 25 teams in the country. Wake Forest finished ahead of a pair of top 10 teams in No. 6 Alabama and No. 9 Texas Tech and all of the teams ahead of the Demon Deacons on the leaderboard are ranked in the top 25.
Brennan led the Deacs in round three and was the highest finisher on the individual leaderboard for the Deacs. Brennan shot under par in the opening rounds including a low opening round score of 68 (-3), and ended the Valspar Collegiate Invitational tied for eighth and 3-under-par for the tournament.
This is Brennan's second top ten finish of the spring season.
Junior Marshall Meisel led the Deacs in the opening rounds, ending the day tied for third and carding the lowest score for the Deacs on Monday with a 66 (-5) in the second round. Meisel ended the tournament tied for fifteenth, and tallied two eagles and twelve birdies on the tournament.
Next Up
The Deacs will travel to Calusa Pines Golf Club in Naples, Fla. for the Calusa Cup. The opening round is set for Sunday, April 6. This will be their final event before the ACC Tournament starting Friday, April 19 at Charlotte Country Club.
