Deacs Stay Even on Opening Day of Darius Rucker

HILTON HEAD, S.C. - The Wake Forest women's golf team has finished the first 18 holes of play at the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate at even par and six strokes off the lead.
Freshman Macy Pate and sophomore Anne-Sterre den Dunnen each finished day one with a two-under scorecard of 69 to put them inside the top 10 (T7) heading into Tuesday's second round.
Den Dunnen was the first Deac to make the turn, doing so at even par after dropping two birdies on her first nine holes. She had three birdies on her second nine, including two of her final four holes, to finish the day two under.
Pate also had two birdies on her first nine holes to make the turn at two under. She recovered from two second-nine bogeys with two more birdies to stay two under on the day.
Freshman Brooke Rivers also made the turn under par after a birdie on the par-three eighth hole. She recorded two more on her second nine to keep her at even par for the round. Veteran Rachel Kuehn finished the day four over and is the only Deac outside the top 21 heading into the second round.
Tuesday's Second Round
Second round tee times will begin at 9:20 with Wake Forest on the tee starting at 10:20. The Deacs will remain paired with LSU and South Carolina and will start on the 10th tee. Live scoring will be available all day via Golfstat and Golf Channel coverage will begin at 2:30 p.m. ET.
