
No. 12 Wake Forest Heads to Durham for Midweek Battle against UNCW

The Demon Deacons will be the designated home team at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park on Tuesday night.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Claiming their second-consecutive ACC series on the road at Boston College this weekend, No. 12 Wake Forest turns their attention to a midweek matchup with UNC Wilmington on Tuesday at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park with first pitch scheduled for 6 p.m.
Sophomore Ben Shenosky will make his sixth-straight midweek start for the Deacs. The Lititz, Pa. native holds a 2-1 record on the season with a 5.56 ERA. In 22.2 innings of work, opponents are hitting just .156 against him with 27 strikeouts.

Opponent/Series History
- Tuesday marks the 33rd all-time meeting between the two schools, with the Demon Deacons leading the series, 17-15 dating back to 1982.
- Last season, the Deacs came away with a pair of wins in the home-and-home with UNCW.
- Wake Forest won 8-6 on Feb. 28 at the Couch.
- The Deacs swept the season series with a 4-0 win on May 16 in Wilmington.
Epilepsy Awareness Game
- The Wake Forest baseball team will host its annual Epilepsy Awareness Game inside David F. Couch Ballpark on Saturday, April 20 against Florida State, benefiting the Epilepsy Foundation of Pennsylvania and Ryan Lloyd Foundation.
- Fans will have the opportunity to bid on the special-edition, game-worn jerseys through GoDeacs.com until 11:59 p.m. on the night of the game. The starting bid for each jersey is $200.

- Sophomore left-handed pitcher Zach (Slim) Johnston has seen a massive uptick in production out of the pen in his second season as a Deac.
- The North Yarmouth, Maine native has allowed just four earned runs in his last 19.0 innings pitched (1.89 ERA) dating back to the game against Elon (3/3).
- During that span, he has struckout 26 batters to just 13 walks, good for a strikeout-per-nine of 12.31. Additionally, he has fanned multiple batters in seven games and has gone over an inning in relief in 12 since early March.

- Wake Forest's 404 strikeouts through 35 games currently is tops in the ACC and fourth nationally.
- Additionally, the Deacs rank fourth in the country with a 11.8 K/9 to this point of the 2024 campaign.
- In 2024, Wake Forest has struck out at least 10 in 22 contests and 15 or more in eight.
- The Deacs struck out a season-high 20 in the Saturday win over Duke.
