WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- The Wake Forest women's basketball team and head coach Megan Gebbia announced the addition of graduate transfer forward Emily Johns Wednesday.
This brings the total number of incoming players for the upcoming season to two as the Demon Deacons also announced the signing of top international guard Aurora Sørbye from Norway during the early signing period in November.
Johns brings a veteran presence to the front court along with returning starting forwards Demeara Hinds and Malaya Cowles as well as rising sophomore Madisyn Jordan.
During her time at American, Johns reached the 1,000-point milestone while averaging better than 10 points per game in 102 games played including 60 starts over the last two seasons for the Eagles.
Johns, who was also a Patriot League All-League selection during her time in Washington D.C., is a career 47.9 percent shooter while also knocking down 76.4 percent of her free throw attempts.

"As soon as I stepped on campus I was in awe. The coaches, staff and the girls were nothing but welcoming, it just felt so right. I've played for these coaches before so as soon as we got to talking it was like nothing changed. I am beyond thankful to be given this opportunity and can't wait to get started! It's awesome, my uncle Chris played football here too so when I told him I was coming he was so excited. Him, my dad and their buddies are already planning trips to come visit!" - Emily Johns
From Coach Gebbia
"Emily is someone who will be an amazing fit for us not only on the floor but off the floor as well. On her visit, she connected well with the team and chemistry is important when you are bringing in a transfer. On the court, she is someone who knows our system and principles well. We were looking for a system-fitting forward and she has been in our offense for four years including having played for me her first two seasons. She is a versatile and consistent scorer from different levels while also being a strong presence and plays team basketball on the defensive end of the floor. I am excited to see her get on the floor and fit in with the other returning veterans we have coming back for the upcoming season." - Megan Gebbia
