No. 6 Wake Forest Earns 5-2 Win Over No. 15 Florida State

The Demon Deacons have now won 13-consecutive matches, marking the longest streak since 2019.
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Highlighted by a dominant straight-set singles win from senior Filippo Moroni, the No. 6-ranked Wake Forest men's tennis team defeated No. 15 Florida State, 5-2, Friday evening at the Scott Speicher Memorial Tennis Center in Tallahassee, Fla.
With the victory, Wake Forest (23-4, 8-1 ACC) has now won 13-consecutive matches, marking the program's longest streak since 2019. Additionally, Friday improved the Demon Deacons to an impressive 7-2 over their last nine meetings against the Seminoles.
Individually, the Deacs were led by No. 36 Moroni as the standout senior defeated the nation's No. 2-ranked singles player, Antoine Cornut-Chauvinc in straight sets (6-4, 7-6). Of note, the victory marked the highest ranked singles win of Moroni's career.
After securing the doubles point, the Demon Deacons found themselves in a tightly-contested battle as Florida State (16-6, 6-4 ACC) quickly evened the ledger with a win on court three. Unphased, the Deacs stormed back to reel off consecutive singles victories to take a 3-1 lead.
The Seminoles then pulled back within one before No. 74 DK Suresh Ekambaram and Luca Pow earned back-to-back wins to secure the 5-2 result for Wake Forest. Of note, Pow's win on court six marked his 14th-straight.
After Friday's results, the Demon Deacons currently sit in second place in the ACC with three league matches remaining.
