Demon Deacons Set for Final Match of Wolfpack Match Play

RALEIGH, N.C. - The Wake Forest women's golf team defeated Princeton, 5-0, and fell to Virginia Tech, 3-2, to advance to Tuesday morning's third-place match at Lonnie Poole Golf Club.
The Deacs will face the Virginia Cavaliers in their final match of the event. Tee times begin at 9:09 a.m. and live scoring will be available via Golfstat.
The Deacs swiftly defeated Princeton, 5-0 with no matches reaching 18 holes. Freshman Brooke Rivers had the most dominant match, winning with five holes remaining. She won the 12th to go 6UP and halved the 13th with a par to win 6&3.
Sophomore Anne-Sterr den Dunnen and graduate Rachel Kuehn each won 5UP with three holes remaining in their morning matches.
Senior Mimi Rhodes finished 2UP after halving the 17th to win 2&1. Freshman Macy Pate was 2UP with two to play and won the 17th to win 3&1.
In the afternoon matches, Rivers and Kuehn both won again, both clinching on the 16th. Kuehn won 16 to go up three with two holes left and Rivers won 16 to go up four with two holes left.
Pate fell in her afternoon match 1Up after halving her final three holes. Junior Carolina Chacarra also fell 1UP on 18. Rhodes fell 1UP as well, but her match went to 20 holes after she kept it tied for the final three holes of regulation.
