No. 13 Wake Forest Opens Eight-Game Homestand against Western Carolina

Wake Forest returns to the friendly confines of David F. Couch after playing 12 of 17 contests on the road in the month of April.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The No. 13 Wake Forest baseball team opens its longest homestand of the year with a three-game set against Western Carolina on Saturday evening at David F. Couch Ballpark.
First pitch on Saturday is scheduled for 6 p.m with Sunday's doubleheader set to begin at 1 p.m. with game three of the series approximately 45 minutes following the conclusion of game two. All three games are set to air on ACC Network Extra.

Multiple Safety Enhancements Added at David F. Couch Ballpark
To make it easier for all fans to get to their seats handrails have been installed in all stadium aisles at The Couch. Prior to the start of the North Carolina series, the protective netting was extended out to cover all fans in general admission seating from potential balls leaving the playing field. Additional security cameras will be added to ensure the safety of fans attending games this season. For a full list of upgrades to The Couch, click here.

- Wake Forest's 508 strikeouts through 45 games currently is tops in the ACC and third nationally.
- Additionally, the Deacs rank fourth in the country with a 11.6 K/9 to this point of the 2024 campaign.
- In 2024, Wake Forest has struck out at least 10 in 29 contests and 15 or more in nine.
- The Deacs struck out a season-high 20 in the Saturday win over Duke back in March.
Kurtz's April
- First baseman Nick Kurtz led the ACC in slugging percentage (1.172), on-base percentage (.556), runs scored (26), runs batted in (30), home runs (13), total bases (68) and walks (22) in April.
- Additionally, the junior hit .379 on the month, ranking 12th in the league.
Walk It Out
- Wake Forest was the best team in the country in 2023 at drawing a free 90 feet with 424 on the season, good for 11 more than any other team.
- With 21 walks during the two midweeks, Wake Forest has now drawn 290 free passes this season.
- The Deacs rank first in the ACC and fourth nationally in the category.
