A staple of the Wake Forest bullpen for the past two years continues his career down the road from Winston-Salem.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest baseball's Cole Roland will continue his professional career with the High Point Rockers of the Atlantic League, having signed a contract with the organization on Saturday.
"I am thrilled that Cole is getting an opportunity to showcase himself in professional baseball," head coach Tom Walter said of the signing. "I'm even more thrilled that it is right here in our backyard. He has elite stuff and a will to win that has made him a big time end of the game guy for us the past two seasons."
Roland returned to the backend of the 2024 bullpen at the start of April, working a perfect ninth inning against UNC-Greensboro with a punchout.
Against No. 8 Florida State, he earned his first save of the season on Friday as he retired the side in the ninth with two strikeouts. Roland returned to the mound the next day, earning his first win of the season on Saturday to secure the series for the Demon Deacons.
The reliever earned the save on both Friday and Saturday against No. 2 Clemson, needing just 10 pitches to strikeout the side in Saturday's contest.
Roland earned the save in five-straight appearances from April 26 to May 11 and finished with six total on the year.
The righty struck out 23 batters across 15.1 innings and had two or more strikeouts in eight of his 17 appearances on the year.
