The Deacs look to get back on track, facing a pair of unranked opponents for the first time this season.

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Wake Forest field hockey team continues the non-conference portion of the schedule against App State on Friday at 6 p.m. in Boone and a home match with VCU on Sunday at 1 p.m. at Kentner Stadium.

On Sunday, participants from this summer's camps will be able to participate in postgame autographs and will receive free autograph posters to be signed by their favorite Demon Deacons.

Fans can tune in live to ACCNX for all the action on Sunday, while Friday's match at App State will be streamed live on Twitch.

Opponent/Series History
• Wake Forest takes on App State for the 58th time in program history on Friday. The Deacs lead the Mountaineers 40-16-1 all-time and head coach Jen Averill is a perfect 31-0 against the Mountaineers.
• Sunday marks the 20th meeting between the Demon Deacons and the Rams. Wake has defeated Longwood in 11 of the last 13 matchups, including a 2-1 victory over VCU in the last matchup in 2022.

Wake Forest Highlights
  • Head coach Jen Averill is in her 33rd season at the helm of the Wake Forest field hockey program, amassing an overall record of 419-235-3 as a Demon Deacon and an overall mark of 439-267-6 in 33 years of coaching.
  • Wake returns 16 players from the 2023 squad and welcomes eight freshmen and two transfers to the program. The returners made 211 appearances last season, seven of which appeared in all 17 matches.
  • The Deacs are averaging 6.00 saves a game, ranking first in the ACC while Ellie Todd is first among league keepers with 6.00 SPG. Todd leads the league with 18 saves on the season and has the highest save percentage among ACC goalies at .857 percent.
  •  Sophmore Faye Janse ranks in the top 25 in the league with five shots through the first three matches.
  • Sophomore Mia Schoenbeck was named to the Preseason All-ACC Team, announced by the league ahead of the season.
    • In her debut season, Schoenbeck netted two goals and an assist to finish her freshman campaign with five points. She made 13 starts for the Demon Deacons, appearing in all 17 matches.
    • The Louisville, Kentucky native was one of just two freshmen named to the NFHCA South All-Region Second Team.
    • A member of Team USA at the 2024 Junior Pan American Championships, Schoenbeck helped guide her country to silver at the games, including a goal in the 32nd minute against Canada in the final game of the group stage.
    • Schoenbeck made her mark early in the 2024 season, finding fellow sophomore Faye Janse for the first goal of the 2024 season for the Deacs.
      • Janse knocked down a ball played in from the 25 by Schoenbeck, fired a shot to the left side of the cage and lasered it past the Michigan keeper to put the Deacs up 1-0.
