GAINESVILLE, Va. - Former Wake Forest women's golfer Jennifer Kupcho and Team USA brought home the trophy to the US for the first time in seven years with a Solheim Cup win last weekend.
In her third appearance for Team USA, Kupcho lost both Friday and Saturday foursomes but made a fantastic comeback to win her Sunday singles against Linn Grant with a 2&1 score, and a 1-2-0 record for the week.
With three matches left on the golf course and the 14-11 lead, the U.S. Team desperately needed another half-point from either Lilia Vu, Sarah Schmelzel or Kupcho to wrap things up. Kupcho won her match and Vu halved hers for the 15 ½-12 ½ USA victory.
With the 2026 Solheim Cup being played in the Netherlands, the event will return to the United States in 2028, when it will be played at one of the best in the country, Valhalla Golf Club. The club has hosted the 1996, 2000, 2014 and 2024 PGA Championships, as well as the 2004 and 2011 Senior PGA Championships and the 2008 Ryder Cup.
Valhalla is a Jack Nicklaus-designed golf course that has ranked among Golf Digest's "America's 100 Greatest Courses" for the past 30 years. It is the culmination of Louisville Businessman Dwight Gahm's dream to build a world-class course capable of hosting a major golf championship. With 480 acres stretching across rolling hills and a breathtaking golf theater, it has become one of golf's most storied venues.
