The Matchup
  • Wake Forest and ETSU will meet for the first time since the 2018 season in Tuesday night's contest.
  • The Demon Deacons enter the match with a 3-3-3 record following a 2-1 comeback at Syracuse on Friday evening in New York.
  • Wake Forest is currently 2-1-2 on the year at Spry, with victories over Central Arkansas and Radford along with draws against Virginia and then-No. 10 Elon.
  • ETSU, meanwhile, is looking for its first road victory of the season as the Buccaneers have dropped four matches away from Johnson City along with a 1-1 draw against Presbyterian on Aug. 29.
  • Through the weekend's action, Wake Forest ranks No. 1 nationally in total shots (186), shots per game (20.11) and second in the country in total shots on goal (72) and shots on goal per game (8.00). Defensively, ETSU faces more than 14 shots per match and has conceded 16 goals.
Last Time Out
  • Wake Forest scored its first ACC victory of the season in thrilling fashion, as the Demon Deacons erased a 1-0 67th-minute deficit with goals in the 78th and 80th minutes courtesy freshman Dylan Borso and junior Basit Umar
  • The Demon Deacons were on the front foot for the majority of the match, outshooting the Orange 24-15 and recording nine shots on goal to Syracuse's five. Additionally, Wake Forest earned eight corner kicks to Syracuse's one.
  • The Orange would take advantage of their lone corner of the evening, as Sam Layton pounced on a second opportunity inside the box to put Syracuse up 1-0.
  • Despite the deficit, Wake Forest responded with two goals in the span of 121 seconds to take a 2-1 lead it would hold onto until the final whistle.
  • The 24 shots by the Deacs were the most the Orange had faced this season, surpassing the 17 attempts by Cornell.
The Spry Advantage
  • Since head coach Bobby Muuss' arrival in 2015 along with the coaching staff of associate head coaches Dane Brenner and Steve Armas along with assistant coach Ade Taiwo, Wake Forest ranks No. 1 nationally in home wins (104), 17 more than any other program nationally during that span and 20 more than any ACC program.
  • Over the last 10 seasons, the Deacs have won at least eight of their matches at Spry Stadium including a double-digit win total seven of those seasons.
  • Wake Forest's home winning percentage of 81.7 percent since 2015 also ranks third nationally, behind only Indiana (83.6) and Denver (82.9).
  • In the Deacs' last 21 regular season home matches against non-conference opponents, Wake Forest is 18-1-2 with a +48 goal margin.
Scouting the Buccaneers
  • ETSU enters Tuesday's match with two draws in its last four appearances, tying 2-2 with UNCW on Sept. 7 before a 1-1 decision against UNC Asheville last week. The Buccaneers opened the season with a 3-1 victory over Longwood while also drawing with Presbyterian on Aug. 29.
  • Five different Bucs have scored in 2024, led by Gabriel Ramos and Hernrique Cruz who each have two goals.
  • Marc Koudaio has started all eight matches in goal, recording 32 saves and a 71.1 save percentage.
  • Wake Forest and ETSU will share the pitch for the first time since Aug. 26, 2018 in Tuesday night's contest.
  • Only the third meeting between the Deacs and Buccaneers, Wake Forest leads the all-time series 1-0-1.
  • Wake Forest's 4-2 victory on the second matchday of the 2018 season was the second of 11-straight wins to open that year.
Looking Ahead
  • Wake Forest will remain at Spry Stadium for a Saturday evening ACC clash against Boston College.
  • Kick-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. and the match will be streamed on ACC Network Extra.
