Demon Deacons Head South for Matchup with Hurricanes

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Wake Forest men's basketball team plays its first road game of 2025 this weekend in Miami, Florida on Saturday. The Deacs and Hurricanes will tip at 5:15 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 11, with the game airing live on The CW.
 
Wake Forest is coming off a decisive 77-59 win over NC State last weekend inside The Joel Coliseum. The Deacs remain perfect at home for the 2024-25 season at 8-0 inside LJVM.
 
Freshman guard Juke Harris gave his squad a major boost in the first half, scoring 14 of his career-high 17 points. For the game, the Salisbury, N.C. native went 6-of-8 from the floor and grabbed five rebounds in nearly 28 minutes of action.
 
Hunter Sallis led all individuals in scoring, finishing with 20 points on the day. The senior guard added five rebounds and three assists while totaling a 57.1 field goal percentage. It was his fourth-straight outing with 20+ points.
 
Tre'Von Spillers controlled the paint for the Deacons on both ends, posting a line of 12 points, five rebounds and four blocks – the latter of which tied his career high. Making his second consecutive start, Ty-Laur Johnson contributed nine points and four assists in 38 minutes – the most minutes played in his young career.
 
As a group, Wake Forest shot the ball exceptionally well, notching its best single-game field goal percentage of the season thus far (54.9 percent).

The Matchup
Miami is coming off an 80-65 home loss against Florida State earlier this week. Interim head coach Bill Courtney has been at the helm of the Hurricanes since legendary head coach Jim Larranaga stepped down just a couple weeks ago. Veterans Nijel Pack, Matthew Cleveland and Lynn Kidd lead the Canes offensively, as they all average over 11 points a game. Kidd also leads the team on the boards, pulling down 7.4 rebounds per game.
