Demon Deacons to Square Off Against Old Dominion and Elon in Sunday Doubleheader

Wake Forest opens Sunday’s action against Old Dominion at 12 p.m. before taking on Elon at 4 p.m.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Following their first road trip of the season, the Wake Forest women's tennis team will return to the Wake Forest Indoor Tennis Center on Sunday for a doubleheader against Old Dominion and Elon.
First serve for the match against Old Dominion is slated for 12 p.m., while the match against Elon is set to start at 4 p.m.
Admission for both matches are free for all spectators and all matches will be live streamed on Playsight throughout the day. Live results will also be updated here.

The Wake Forest women's tennis team made their first trip away from Winston-Salem, defeating Liberty 6-1 at the Liberty Indoor Tennis Center on Friday.
The Demon Deacons continued their hot start to the season in doubles play, as junior Nevena Carton and freshman Kady Tannenbaum picked up a 6-1 victory at second doubles. Graduate student Makayla Mills and redshirt sophomore Krystal Blanch secured the point for the Deacs with a 6-3 victory at first doubles over O'Neill/Turchetto.
In singles, freshman Brianna Baldi picked up a dominant victory at fifth singles, defeating Celina Joseph 6-1, 6-0. Sophomore Sankavi Gownder also had an impressive victory at sixth singles as she bested Sadie Daavettila (6-3, 6-2) at sixth singles.
Tannenbaum clinched the match for the Demon Deacons with a straight-set victory against Maria Tuchetto (6-3, 7-6 (7-3)) at fourth singles.
Carton and fellow junior Whitley Pate also picked up wins on Friday, as Carton defeated Yu-Yun Chen (6-4, 6-3) at first singles, while Pate fought back after a first set loss to come away with a three-set victory over Yoanna Radulova (3-6, 6-3, 6-4) at third singles.
Doubles Dominance
Through the first four matches of the season, the Demon Deacons have dominated in doubles matches, currently sitting at 8-0 in doubles play.
Two doubles teams are currently sitting at 3-0 on the season, with No. 44 Carton/Tannenbaum picking up three-consecutive wins against East Carolina, ETSU, and Liberty at second doubles, and Pate and graduate student Anna Zhang earning three victories during opening weekend at third doubles. Meanwhile, Blanch and Mills currently sit at 2-0 on the season with victories against Tennessee and Liberty at first doubles.
Chasing History
With Friday's victory over Liberty, head coach Jeff Wyshner recorded his 190th career win as the head coach of the Demon Deacons. Wyshner, who is currently in his 15th season at the helm for the Deacs, is now only two wins away from becoming the all-time winningest head coach in program history.
Under Wyshner's leadership, the Demon Deacons have amassed a 190-180 overall record and have made eight-consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances. Wyshner has also helped produce three All-Americans during his 15-year tenure, including Singles All-American Carolyn Campana (2021), and Doubles All-Americans MC Meredith and Eliza Omiru (2020) and Anna Brylin and Brooke Killingsworth (2022).
Scouting the Opposition
Old Dominion heads into Winston-Salem following a 1-1 start to their 2025 season, defeating Richmond 7-0 before falling to Penn State 4-3.
The Monarchs are an experienced team, led by seniors Lidiia Rasskouskaia and Sophia Johnson, along with juniors Mya Byrd, Allison Isaacs, and Victoria Matasova.
Elon comes into their matchup with the Demon Deacons sitting at 3-0 this season. The Phoenix opened their season with a 4-3 win over Liberty before ending their opening weekend with a 7-0 sweep over Longwood. In their most recent matchup, the Phoenix defeated Bellarmine at home 7-0.
Of note, the Phoenix are currently 16-2 in singles matches this season, with four players starting the season 3-0 in singles, including freshmen Heidi Bulger and Lisa Kranec, sophomore Mariana Reding, and junior Madison Cordisco.
