- Women's Basketball:
- The Wake Forest women's basketball team grabbed its first ACC win of the season Sunday with a double-digit victory over Boston College.
- Sophomore guard Rylie Theuerkauf set a new career-high in points for the second consecutive game as she finished with 21 on 8-of-16 shooting and a 4-for-4 mark from the charity stripe. She netted 14 of her points in the first quarter alone. It marked her 11th game of the season with double-digit points and fourth with at least 15.
- She has 40 points over the last two games and now averages 10.3 on the season, the second-most on the team.
- Sophomore guard Rylie Theuerkauf set a new career-high in points for the second consecutive game as she finished with 21 on 8-of-16 shooting and a 4-for-4 mark from the charity stripe. She netted 14 of her points in the first quarter alone. It marked her 11th game of the season with double-digit points and fourth with at least 15.
- Theuerkauf was also the leading scorer in the first Big-4 match of the season on Thursday when the Deacs fell at North Carolina.
- Theuerkauf shined in the second half, as she recorded 15 of the Demon Deacons' 23 points over the final two quarters en route to her 11th double-digit scoring performance of the season. She finished an incredibly efficient 8-of-13 from the floor and 2-for-2 from the charity stripe.
- Wake Forest will continue its home swing on Thursday when they host No. 17 NC State for the first of the home-and-home series with tipoff scheduled for 6:00 p.m. at LJVM Coliseum. The Deacs will then travel to No. 25 Florida State on Sunday for a 6:00 p.m. tipoff on ACC Network.
- The Wake Forest women's basketball team grabbed its first ACC win of the season Sunday with a double-digit victory over Boston College.
- Women's Tennis:
- The Demon Deacons continued their 2025 season with a 3-0 weekend as head coach Jeff Wyshner earned his 190th, 191st, and 192nd victories of his Wake Forest career to become the all-time winningest head coach in program history. The Deacs are now 37-7 across singles and doubles matches, including an undefeated 12-0 start in doubles play this season.
- The Deacs opened their second weekend of the regular season with their first road trip of the season, defeating Liberty 6-1.
- On Sunday, the Demon Deacons swept their doubleheader against Old Dominion and Elon to extend their winning streak to five-consecutive matches and give Wyshner his record-tying and record-breaking victories:
- In their first match of the day, the Deacs defeated the Monarchs 4-2. The Demon Deacons picked up the doubles point once again after wins from No. 44 Carton/Tannenbaum and graduate student Anna Zhang and junior Whitley Pate. After falling behind in singles play, the Deacs rattled off three-straight wins to clinch the match, including a three-set comeback victory by Baldi against Marina Markina (6-7 (6-7), 6-0, 6-3) to secure the match.
- The Demon Deacons swept Elon in their second match of the afternoon, defeating the Phoenix 7-0. No. 44 Carton/Tannenbaum and Zhang/Pate picked up easy wins in doubles action, moving both duos to 5-0 on the season. Pate also closed out the sweep for the Deacs, defeating Heidi Bulger at third singles in a three-set nailbiter, 6-4, 3-6, 1-0 (10-6).
- The Deacs will head back out on the road this upcoming weekend as they face Marshall on Sunday, with first serve slated at 10 a.m.
- Track & Field:
- For the third consecutive year, Wake Forest track and field athlete Samantha Heyison has been named to the 2025 USA National team, where she will compete in discus and shot put, USA Track & Field announced on Jan. 16, 2025.
- Born with constricted band syndrome, Heyison began participating in Para track and field in 2021. A native of Adamstown, Md., she was a three-time high school state champion and also competed in soccer, softball and basketball growing up.
- This past summer, Heyison competed in discus and shot put at the 2024 Paralympics in Paris, France, from Aug. 28 to Sept. 8.
- The Wake Forest track & field team will be back in action this Saturday, Feb. 1, with some members traveling to Boston for the BU Terrier Classic and others competing in the Gamecock Challenge in Columbia, S.C.
