This event is part of Wake Forest’s Charlotte Series, furthering the Demon Deacons' Queen City commitment.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Building on the previously announced 2027 Wake Forest football matchup with Notre Dame inside Bank of American Stadium, Wake Forest Athletics continues to strengthen its regional ties to Charlotte as the Demon Deacons baseball program will head to the Queen City to take on Clemson in a showdown at Truist Field on Wednesday, April 1, 2026.
Tickets for the April 1 game will go on sale in January 2026 through the Charlotte Knights box office and CharlotteKnights.com. Additionally, first pitch time, broadcast details, fan promotions and additional game information will be announced at a later date.
The matchup between two of the ACC's premier programs will showcase top-tier college baseball at one of the nation's most scenic professional venues. Truist Field, home of the Triple-A Charlotte Knights, has become a regular stage for major collegiate events, including the ACC Baseball Championship.
Coming off another strong season, the Demon Deacons will look to make a statement against a familiar rival in a matchup that has consistently featured some of the best talent in college baseball. Although the contest will not count toward ACC standings, the environment and level of competition will mirror that of a postseason setting.
Truist Field offers fans a unique opportunity to see the Deacs up close in a professional atmosphere, with convenient access for alumni and supporters from across the Southeast Region. The evening will also serve as a showcase for Wake Forest's nationally regarded roster, which continues to feature some of the most exciting players in college baseball.
Meanwhile, fans do not have to wait long to see the Demon Deacons back on at David F. Couch Ballpark as Wake Forest takes the field for the 2026 season soon.
The Deacons return a talented core from last season's NCAA Tournament team, including All-Americans Kade Lewis and Dalton Wentz, and First Team All-ACC pitcher Blake Morningstar. With proven leadership and a deep roster, Wake Forest once again looks poised to contend for conference and national titles in 2026.
Wake Forest enters 2026 coming off its fourth-straight NCAA Tournament appearance. Head coach Tom Walter and the Demon Deacons return a talented roster featuring multiple All-ACC performers, MLB Draft prospects, and one of the top recruiting classes in the nation.
Wake Forest University's Presence in Charlotte
Wake Forest's longtime presence in the Queen City was bolstered in June with the official opening of The Pearl, a new 26-acre innovation district and home to the second campus of the Wake Forest University School of Medicine — the first and only four-year medical school in Charlotte — and the headquarters of Advocate Health, the third-largest nonprofit healthcare system in America. As the academic core of the Advocate/Atrium system, Wake Forest School of Medicine is led by Dr. Ebony Boulware, who serves as both Dean and Chief Science Officer & Vice Chief Academic Officer of Advocate Health. Dean Boulware welcomed the inaugural WFU Charlotte medical school class on July 19, including Wake Forest men's soccer alum Sebastian Scrivner.
Next year, Wake Forest plans to relocate the School of Professional Studies and the Charlotte programs of the School of Business from their current uptown location to The Pearl—consolidating Wake Forest University's ACC-leading presence in Charlotte into one dynamic location.
Additionally, the Knights Collegiate Baseball Series reflects the Atlantic Coast Conference's ongoing commitment to Charlotte, where the league relocated its headquarters in 2023. The Queen City remains a central hub for major ACC events across multiple sports, including football, men's and women's basketball, and baseball. Most recently, Wake Forest made a run to the 2024 ACC Baseball Tournament Semifinals, behind a 12th-inning home run by Sporting News AL Rookie of the Year Nick Kurtz.
While this game is still months away, Wake Forest encourages Charlotte residents to and learn more about WAKECharlotte — a volunteer-led group dedicated to engaging alumni, parents, and friends in the Queen City. WAKECharlotte organizes events throughout the year for all ages, including social gatherings, athletic outings, networking opportunities, and community service.
What They Are Saying
- Vice President & Director of Athletics John Currie:
- "Wake Forest represents Charlotte's largest ACC academic presence, and we love bringing more big-time Demon Deacons action to the Queen City. We've had some incredible games with the Tigers over the last several years, and since we don't play each other in the 2026 regular season, I appreciate the partnership with Clemson Athletics Director Graham Neff to create a big-time matchup fans will love. Truist Field is an outstanding venue and the perfect spot to kick off the multi-year Wake Charlotte Series."
- Head Coach Tom Walter:
- "We're always looking for opportunities to showcase our program on big stages, and Truist Field provides exactly that. Charlotte has an incredible baseball community, and this matchup against Clemson will be a great experience for our players and fans. It's going to be a first-class environment, and we can't wait to see Deacon Nation fill the stands."
