This also marks the first time that both the men’s and women’s cross country programs will race at the NCAA Championships in the same season since 2000.

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Following an impressive fifth place finish at the NCAA Southeast Regional, the Wake Forest women's cross country team was selected to compete in the 2025 NCAA Cross Country Championships, as announced by the NCAA Selection Committee on Saturday afternoon.

This marks the women's 12th-ever appearance at the NCAA Cross Country Championships, and the first since 2006.

In addition to breaking a 19-year NCAA Championship appearance drought, both the men's and women's teams will be competing at the NCAA Championships in the same season for the first time since 2000. The No. 12 men's team earned an automatic bid to their sixth-consecutive and 15th-overall NCAA Championship appearance after claiming the NCAA Southeast Regional Championship at the Panorama Farms course in Earlysville, Va. on Friday morning.

Both squads will now head to Columbia, Mo. to compete at the NCAA Championships next Saturday, Nov. 22, at the Gans Creek course. The women's race will start at 10:20 a.m., while the men's race is set to begin at 11:10 a.m. Both races will be streamed live on ESPNU.

From the Staff
"Having both teams qualify for the NCAA Championships is a big step forward for our program. Our men earning their sixth-straight berth and our women returning for the first time since 2006 shows the progress we've made. Only 32 teams qualify out of more than 300, so earning spots on both sides is something we're proud of. Credit goes to our athletes and to our entire coaching staff and training staff — their work and commitment made this possible. We're ready to compete well at nationals." - Director of Track and Field and Cross Country John Hayes

"Making the NCAA Cross Country Championships for the first time since 2006 is incredibly special. We've been right on the edge the last few years, so finally breaking through and joining the men's team at NCAAs means the world to us. This is a testament to how hard our women have worked every single day to push our program forward, and we're proud to carry that momentum onto the national stage. We also owe so much to the alumni who laid the foundation. We wouldn't be where we are today without their grit, belief, and love for Wake Forest. We're excited to represent the Deacs together in Missouri and make everyone proud." - Associate Head Coach Ashley Bastron
