WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Wake Forest men's basketball team (0-0, 0-0 ACC) will begin the 2025-26 season on Monday evening, hosting American (0-0, 0-0 Patriot League) as part of a doubleheader at LJVM Coliseum.
The season opener will tip at 8 p.m. and be streamed on ACC Network Extra.
New Look Deacs
Wake Forest welcomed nine newcomers to the 2025-26 roster including five marque transfer additions.
Former all-conference selections Nate Calmese and Mekhi Mason, reigning Summit League Freshman of the Year Sebastian Akins, former Missouri Valley Conference Freshman of the Year and versatile standout Myles Colvin are transfer additions that are joined by a freshman class that includes Isaac Carr and Jaylen Cross.
In total, the transfers have combined to appear in more than 8,600 minutes of collegiate action to collect 3,863 points, 1,115 rebounds, 604 assists, 272 steals and 161 blocks.
Last Time Out
In 2024-25, the Demon Deacons earned 21 victories and the program's first-ever double bye in the ACC Tournament. With 13 ACC victories – tied for the most in a single season in school history and the second time in four seasons the Deacs have hit that mark – Wake Forest earned its highest regular-season finish since the 2008-09 campaign.
Wake Forest matched the school record for road ACC victories with six and became the only ACC program to sweep the West Coast swing with victories at Stanford and Cal. Additionally, the Deacs set a new program record for ACC victories over a four-year span with 47 since the beginning of the 2021-22 campaign.
Defend Home Court
Wake Forest men's basketball has built one of college basketball's premier home court advantages over the last four seasons, as the Demon Deacons have collected a 61-10 at LJVM Coliseum since 2021—tied nationally for the fourth-most home wins over that period.
Additionally, Wake Forest's 29 home ACC wins and 72.5 home winning percentage over the last four seasons is tied for the third-most in the league.
Series History: Wake Forest vs. American
Led by head coach Duane Simpkins, the Eagles last season earned their first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2014 as Patriot League champions with a 22-13 record.
In the offseason, American welcomed six freshmen to the roster and returned a pair of starters from last year's conference champions in Matt Mayock and Greg Jones, who was named to the All-Patriot League Defensive Team.
