
Deacs In Search of Perfect Homestand

The Demon Deacons will look to improve to 6-0 for the first time since the 2021-22 season when the Deacs won the first seven games of the season.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – After winning the first five games to start the season, the Wake Forest women's basketball team will look to continue its perfect start to the season Sunday at Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum, playing host to Western Carolina for an 1 p.m. tipoff.
The Demon Deacons (5-0) have remained perfect in the first five games propelled by 17.6 assists per game, multiple dominant performances in the paint including having over 40 in the last four games. The Deacs have had the emergence of sophomore forward Grace Oliver in the last two games as she has averaged 20.0 points and 7.5 rebounds per game. Going into Sunday, the Deacs ranked 28th nationally and fourth in the ACC, holding opponents to just 32.7 shooting from the field while also ranking 61st with 42.6 rebounds per game.
The Catamounts (2-3) started the season with a pair of wins over Virginia University of Lynchburg and Tusculum but have since gone on a three-game losing streak to Campbell, No. 6 Oklahoma and UNC-Asheville. Western Carolina has been strong in a couple of different categories to start this season, leading the SoCon and ranking 69th nationally with 15.2 free throws made per game while also leading the conference and ranking 101st nationally with 20.6 turnovers forced per game.
Tipoff for Sunday is scheduled for 1 p.m. (ET) at LJVM Coliseum.

Charlotte Observer Player of the Year Holland Signs with Wake Forest
Head coach Megan Gebbia announced the addition of the 2025 Charlotte Observer Player of the Year in Oshauna Holland on National Signing Day.
On the heels of a perfect 4-0 start to the season including an Opening Night win against Radford, a 37-point win against Presbyterian, a 29-point victory over Hampton and a career-high performance from Grace Oliver in a win against Mercer, Gebbia and the Demon Deacons carried that momentum into National Signing Day.
Holland has been one of the best players in the state of North Carolina throughout her prep career, amassing 2,246 career points which leads all active players in the state and ranks 17th nationally among all active high school players in the country.
In three seasons, she has averaged 25 points per game, along with 8.1 rebounds, 5.8 steals and 5.6 assists.
As a junior, Holland averaged 28.7 points, 8.9 rebounds, 6.3 assists and 5.3 steals per game, leading her team to a 29-3 record. She led Stuart Cramer High School to earn the program's first NCHSAA 3A West title as a junior and their first trip to the state title game.
In the 2025 NCHSAA 3A State Final at LJVM Coliseum, Holland stole the show with 39 points and seven rebounds.
Assists On Made Baskets
Wake Forest tallied 19 total assists on the night on 25 made baskets (76 percent). In five games this season, the Demon Deacons have totaled 88 assists on 130 field goals (67.7 percent) which would mark the highest percentage in the Megan Gebbia era.
The Deacs did an excellent job of moving the ball last season, as they assisted on 394 of 667 made baskets this season (59.1 pct.). This was the highest assist percentage in the Gebbia era and the assist percentage ranks in the top 70 percent in the nation according to HerHoopStats.
In 2023-24, the Deacs assisted 404 of 694 made field goals (58.2 percent).
Forcing Them Over
The Deacs forced the Eagles into 21 turnovers on Thursday, reaching the 20+ turnovers forced mark for the second-consecutive game, of which led to 20 points off turnovers.
The Deacs have forced 10 or more takeaways 72 times in the last 76 games. The 76-game stretch goes back to January of 2022.
Through five games, the Demon Deacons have forced 17.3 turnovers per game.
Owning the Paint
The Demon Deacons had another excellent game in the paint, with 42 points posted inside while allowing the Eagles to score just 24 points in the paint, a 18-point differential.
Across five games, the Deacs have totaled 214 points in the paint (42.8 per game) including having over 40 in the last four games.
Sharpshooting Deacs
Wake Forest finished Opening Night with seven threes including four from junior guard/forward Mary Carter.
The Deacs finished the 2024-25 season knocking down 159 threes (5.5 3FGM per game). This included seven games with eight or more threes made.
Through the first three seasons under head coach Megan Gebbia, the Demon Deacons have hit 590 threes in 95 games under her direction (6.2 3FGM per game).

Wake Forest vs. NC Central (November 20)

- The Demon Deacons (5-0) forced the Bears (1-4) into 21 turnovers on the night, which they turned into 20 points on the other end. Wake Forest also dominated the paint, as it out-scored the visitors 42-to-24 inside.
- Individually, the Deacs were led by sophomore forward Grace Oliver, who continued her hot start to the season with a team-high 19 points on 9-of-14 shooting from the field while also adding eight rebounds, three assists and two steals in the win.
- Oliver now leads the team with 68 points on the year (13.6 PPG) and is doing so on an incredibly efficient .646 shooting.
- Freshman guard Milan Brown had an all-around performance and played a crucial role against the Eagles. The Baltimore, Md.-native finished with six points, eight rebounds, seven assists, a rebounds and a steal.

- Freshman point guard Chelsea Douglas led all scorers with 18 points, while Sandra Garcia collected 17 points.
- Brittany Waters with 13 points, freshmen Jaymee Carnes and Erin Hall with 12 points apiece, and Asia Williams with 10 points. Williams also collected 10 boards on the afternoon for the first double-double of her career.
