
Deacs In Search of Bounce Back Win Sunday

Going into the game Sunday, Georgetown is the highest ranked NET program that the Demon Deacons have played this season, ranking 40th.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Wake Forest women's basketball team is looking to bounce back Sunday against Georgetown at Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum with tipoff scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
The Demon Deacons (9-1) are off to their best start in 15 years and in the first 10 games have been propelled by 17.6 assists per game. The Deacs have had the emergence of sophomore forward Grace Oliver as she is averaging a team-high 12.6 points per game and also ranking in the top 25 nationally with 60.2 percent shooting from the floor. Going into Sunday, the Deacs ranked 12th nationally and first in the ACC, holding opponents to just 32.4 shooting from the field and also ranking 22nd in scoring defense with just 53.4 points per game allowed while also ranking 14th with 30.9 defensive rebounds per game.
The Hoyas (5-3) go into Sunday at the No. 40 team in the NET rankings, the highest ranked team that the Demon Deacons have played so far this season. Georgetown is looking for its first win on the road this season, dropping its other two games at George Mason and Maryland. All three of their losses have come against Quad-1 and Quad-2 teams. The Hoyas have been one of the most balanced teams so far this season, ranking fifth in the country in bench scoring with 35.5 points per game. Additionally, they rank in the top 25 in free throw attempts and three-point percentage.
Tipoff for Sunday is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. (ET) at LJVM Coliseum.

Assists On Made Baskets
Wake Forest tallied 14 total assists on the night on 26 made baskets (53.8 percent). In 10 games this season, the Demon Deacons have totaled 176 assists on 261 field goals (67.4 percent) which would mark the highest percentage in the Megan Gebbia era.
The Deacs did an excellent job of moving the ball last season, as they assisted on 394 of 667 made baskets this season (59.1 pct.). This was the highest assist percentage in the Gebbia era and the assist percentage ranks in the top 70 percent in the nation according to HerHoopStats.
In 2023-24, the Deacs assisted 404 of 694 made field goals (58.2 percent).
Forcing Them Over
The Deacs forced the Tribe into 17 turnovers on Wednesday, and have forced 10 or more takeaways 77 times in the last 81 games, a stretch dating back to January of 2022.
Through 10 games, the Demon Deacons have forced 15.8 turnovers per game.
Owning the Paint
The Demon Deacons had another excellent game in the paint, with 32 points posted inside.
Across 10 games, the Deacs have totaled 388 points in the paint (38.8 per game).
Sharpshooting Deacs
Wake Forest knocked back a season-best nine threes against William & Mary, with junior guard/forward Mary Carter and sophomore forward Grace Oliver each sparking three of the six.
The Deacs finished the 2024-25 season knocking down 159 threes (5.5 3FGM per game). This included seven games with eight or more threes made.

- Trailing by as many as 25 points in the second half, the Demon Deacons (9-1) mounted a near comeback effort, pulling to within three before eventually dropping their first game of the season. The 25-point comeback would have been tied for the fifth-highest comeback in NCAA history. Wake Forest ended the game on a 39-17 scoring run over the last 16:10 minutes of the game.
- The Deacs 9-0 start to the season was their best since the 2008-09 season.
- Wake Forest won three of the four quarters against William & Mary (3-4) with the Tribe only winning the second quarter, 28-9.
- Junior forward/guard Mary Carter led the Deacs with 15 points and seven rebounds, adding a steal and a block to her stat line.

- The Demon Deacons were within one with 5:00 minutes left in the game, but shots did not fall at the end, allowing the Hoyas (9-1) to finish the game on a 15-0 scoring run.
- The Deacs were led by their senior leaders in Alexandria Scruggs and Kaia Harrison who both finished in double-figure scoring. Scruggs tallied double-digit points for the second-consecutive game and the third time in the last five games, ending the afternoon with a team-high 13 points including going 2-of-3 from behind the arc.
- Harrison posted 10 points, her third consecutive double-figure game and her seventh in 11 games overall this season. For the sixth time this season, she went perfect at the free throw line, knocking down 4-of-4 from the stripe. Overall this season, Harrison is 44-of-50 (88.0 pct.). The Baldwin, N.Y native also had a team-high four steals.
