
Demon Deacons Return to LJVM for Midweek Contest Against the Seminoles

Wake Forest and Florida State will meet in Winston-Salem for the first time since Jan. 11, 2023.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest men's basketball (18-6, 10-3 ACC) will return to home action on Wednesday evening following a week in California, as the Demon Deacons will host Florida State (14-9, 5-7 ACC) on Wednesday evening at LJVM Coliseum. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. and the matchup will air on ESPNU.
Wake Forest is currently on a three-game winning streak, as the Demon Deacons defeated Pitt in their last home appearance on Feb. 1 before becoming the first ACC program this season to defeat Stanford and Cal on the road.
The Demon Deacons are 11-1 at home this season and have accumulated 59 victories inside LJVM Coliseum since the start of the 2021-22 campaign – a total that ranks tied for second-best in the country over the last four seasons. With 11 home wins this season, the Demon Deacons are one of only three ACC programs with more than 11 victories on home court, joined by No. 3 Duke and No. 23 Clemson.
Last Time Out
The Deacs traveled across the Bay Area for a Saturday afternoon contest at Cal, as Wake Forest earned a 76-66 victory behind a combined 62 points from seniors Cameron Hildreth, Hunter Sallis and Efton Reid III.
Hildreth led the Deacs in scoring for the third-straight game with 23 points while Reid contributed a career-high 19 points while going 8-of-9 from the field and 2-of-2 from behind the arc. In total, Wake Forest outscored the Golden Bears 48-16 in the paint.
Defensively, the Deacs held the Cal to 36 percent shooting while collecting a season-high 12 steals.
Winning West Coast Swing
The Demon Deacons made the most of their week-long stay in California, becoming the first ACC team this season to score victories at both Stanford and Cal.
On Wednesday night, Wake utilized clutch free throw shooting to pull away from Stanford, 79-73, as the Deacs became the first ACC opponent this season to win at Maples Pavilion. In the previous five home ACC contests, Stanford's average margin of victory was more than 17 points and had scored a pair of 20-plus-point victories.
Then on Saturday afternoon, the Deacs scored 45 second-half points to pull away from Cal in a 76-66 victory.
In total, seven ACC programs have completed the California swing with only Wake Forest returning with a pair of victories.
Series History: Wake Forest vs. Florida State
Florida State last played on Tuesday, Feb. 4 as the Seminoles defeated Notre Dame 67-60 behind an 18-0 first half run that turned a 17-7 deficit into a 25-17 lead. The Seminoles were led in scoring by Jamir Watkins' 21 points and Malique Ewin's 18-point, 10-rebound performance.
Through the weekend's action, Watkins ranks fourth in the ACC in points per game (18.3), trailing only Stanford's Maxime Raynaud, Duke's Cooper Flagg and Wake Forest's Hunter Sallis.
As a team, Florida State leads the ACC in blocks per game (5.0) and free throws per game (23.4) while ranking second in free throws made (17.0).
