No. 9 Wake Forest Set for Top-20 Match Play at Old Barnwell

The field of eight teams features three other top-ranked ACC opponents.
AIKEN, S.C. - After another top-five team finish and one top-ten individual finish at the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate, No. 9 Wake Forest women's golf travels to Aiken, S.C. for the Old Barnwell Derby, hosted by South Carolina, starting on Mar. 17-18.
The match play tournament is in only its second year of installation and features an expanded field from four teams to eight in 2025. In the Deacons' last match play competition, the Deacs defeated South Carolina for third place overall and senior Carolina Chacarra won her third individual title.
Among the field of opponents are teams all ranked within the top 20, as well as conference foe No. 6 Florida State, No. 11 Virginia, and No. 18 Duke.
Wake Forest will tee off hole 10 at 9:15 ET and go head-to-head with No. 20 Auburn.

Wake Forest most recently recorded another top-five finish at the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate in Hilton Head, S.C.. Sophomore Macy Pate finished T8 and shot 216 (+3) for her second top-10 finish of the season. In her second team collegiate event, freshman Chloe Kovelesky carded a 218 (+5) to finish T13. Both senior Carolina Chacarra and junior Anne-Sterre den Dunnen recorded top-25 finishes with a 220 (+7) and graduate Sky Sload finished T56 and 227 (+14).
