This is the Demon Deacons fourth consecutive top-five finish this season
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C.- The Wake Forest men's golf team claimed their sixth top-five finish of the 2024-25 season, this being their fourth consecutive top-five finish as a team. In a collective effort, the Demon Deacons end the final round of the General James Hackler Championship holding a share of fourth place with a two-under score of 862.
Scotty Kennon led the Deacs on the individual leaderboard, turning in his second under-par round of the week in the final round. Through 54 holes, Kennon recorded a six-under 210 to finish tied for seventh place.
After Kennon secured a clutch birdie on 18, this moved the Deacs up the leaderboard to secure their position within the top-5. Additionally, this is the senior's fifth top-ten finish this season.
Junior Jakob Melin went on a tear in his final round, tallying six birdies on the day to finish with a four-under 68. Melin picked up his best finish this spring, and second-best career finish as a Demon Deacon, tying for 13th place at four-under.
Senior Marshall Meisel fired four birdies in round three, finishing three-over and tying for 38th place. Sophomore Tom Haberer shot his best in round three, carding a final round score of 72 at even par, while sophomore Kyle Haas finished tied for 66th at ten-over par.
Freshman Jorge Hao, who played as an individual, finished tied for 23rd at even par (72, 71, 73).

Of the 16-team field, eight of the nation's top 25 teams according to the Scoreboard rankings will be participating at the Valspar Collegiate Invitational.
From Coach Haas:
"Great finish on the last four holes by everyone today, the birdie by Scotty on the last got us another spot in the standings. All in all, another good week. I can feel the momentum building. This is a wonderful event, the Dunes Club has so much history and we look forward to returning. I'd also like to add that I appreciate the young men that play at Wake Forest, how they represent the University, and how hard they play and compete while they're wearing the black and gold. Wins and losses are very important, but the ability to be someone that is looked up to and respected goes way further than beyond the course. Go Deacs!"
