Opponent History
Friday's series opener marks the 38th meeting all-time between the two programs with Wake Forest holding a 20-17 edge and are 11-6 all-time at home against the Irish.
Wake Forest looks for their second-straight home series win against the Irish, after dropping 2-of-3 in South Bend last year.
Walk It Out
Wake Forest was the best team in the country in 2023 at drawing a free 90 feet with 424 on the season, good for 11 more than any other team.
The Demon Deacons continued to draw free passes last season with 378 to lead the ACC and rank sixth nationally in 2024.
The trend continued through the first 14 games of the 2025 season as the Deacs have drawn 103 free passes to rank second in the ACC and seventh in the nation. The 13 walks at App State matched a season high.
Wild Wild Wentz
Freshman Dalton Wentz picked up his fourth and fifth multi-hit efforts of the 2025 season with a 6-for-10 (.600) day against Princeton and Maryland. Wentz doubled three times against the Tigers becoming the first Demon Deacon to do so since Chris Lanzilli at Duke during the 2019 season.
Wentz leads the team with eight doubles on the season, and ranks first in the ACC and fourth in the nation in the category. The Madison Heights, Va. native leads the nation among freshmen with his eight doubles, with the next closest first-year player having just six.
Keep 'Em Off The Board
Wake Forest enters ACC play ranked third in the country in shutouts with three in the first 14 games of the season and are just one of nine teams with three.
The Demon Deacons keep St. John's scoreless on both Friday and Saturday, marking the first time with back-to-back shutouts since a 15-0 win over High Point and 6-0 win over Boston College during the 2023 season.
