3/6/2025 12:41:00 PM | Men's Basketball
The Demon Deacons will honor five student-athletes prior to hosting Georgia Tech in the regular season finale.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Wake Forest men's basketball team (20-10, 12-7 ACC) will close the regular season on Saturday afternoon, hosting Georgia Tech (16-14, 10-9 ACC) at LJVM Coliseum for a 2:15 p.m. tip.
The regular season finale will be televised nationally on The CW.
With one regular season game remaining, the Deacs are in sixth place in the conference standings but have the opportunity to still secure a top-four seed and double bye in the ACC Tournament.
Additionally, the Deacs will be looking to match the program record of 13 ACC regular season victories set three previous times during the 2003-04, 2004-05 and 2021-22 seasons.
Last Time Out
Facing the No. 2 team in the country on the road, the Deacs fell to Duke by a final of 90-63 on Monday evening inside Cameron Indoor Stadium.
On the offensive end, senior Efton Reid III led the Demon Deacons as he tallied 14 points on three-of-eight shooting, including a pair of three pointers. Monday's contest was just his third of the season making multiple field goals from beyond the arc. Also, it marked the first time all season that the big man from Richmond, Va. led Wake Forest in scoring. Additionally, Reid recorded six rebounds and an assist.
Meanwhile, sophomore point guard Ty-Laur Johnson scored the ball well for the Deacs as he tallied 14 points of his own. Monday's game marked the just the second time this season (Feb. 15 at SMU) that both Reid and Johnson were in double figures in the same contest.
From a game flow perspective, after a hard-fought first half where the Demon Deacons trailed by 14 points (40-26), Wake Forest found its footing on both ends of the floor and began the second stanza on a 7-0 scoring run. Undaunted, Duke answered quickly and the closest deficit for Wake Forest in the second half after that spot in the contest was nine points.
Defend Home Court
