The victory also completed the first undefeated regular season in program history.
RALEIGH, N.C – For the fourth time in program history, the No. 1-ranked Wake Forest men's tennis team has won the ACC regular season title following its 4-2 victory over No. 5-ranked NC State Saturday evening at the J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center.
Also with the win, the Demon Deacons (33-0, 13-0 ACC) secured the first-ever perfect regular season in program history, as well as the third undefeated conference record with the previous two also coming under head coach Tony Bresky in 2017 and 2019. Wake Forest is the first ACC team to finish the entire regular season without a loss since Virginia in 2013.
This marks the first regular-season crown for the Demon Deacons since they three-peated from 2017-2019. Since 2017, Wake Forest is tied with Virginia for the most regular-season titles in the conference.
Now with 33 wins, Bresky's squad is now just one shy of the program record for most wins in a single season, previously set by the 2019 team (34). The Demon Deacons can break the record as early as next week with wins in the quarterfinals and semifinals of the ACC Tournament.
Playing together for the first time, graduate student Stefan Dostanic and freshman Charlie Robertson took down No. 12 Leroux/Staeheli, 6-3, on court two. The two newcomers are a combined 22-3 in doubles this season, with both primarily playing alongside junior DK Suresh Ekambaram.
Suresh and sophomore Luca Pow moved to 3-0 as a pairing this campaign with a 6-3 victory over No. 7 Shick/Van Sambeek on court one. It marked Suresh's team-high 25th doubles win this season as he moved to 11-1 against ranked duos. Additionally, Pow is now second on the team with 18 doubles wins with six coming against ranked foes. The win clinched Wake Forest's 31st doubles point in 33 matches as the Deacs took a 1-0 lead into singles.
Extending his winning streak to 21-consecutive matches, Pow picked up a quick and dominant 6-0, 6-0 win over Jules Leroux on court five. He now holds a 26-2 record in singles this season and an incredible 51-4 mark over his two-year career with the Demon Deacons. Pow is now just three matches shy of his previous career-best winning streak of 24. Additionally, the Englishman finished with an 11-0 record in conference play this season, which brought his career record in ACC matches to 18-0.
Dostanic returned to the singles lineup for the first time in a month and picked up where he left off for the Demon Deacons, as he earned a 6-3, 6-3 victory on court one over No. 29 Braden Shick. The No. 17-ranked player in the nation is now 7-2 in a Wake Forest uniform with six of his seven wins coming against ranked opponents.
Of note, it marked Dostanic's first singles win since his three-set thriller over TCU's Jack Pinnington to clinch Wake Forest's second ITA National Indoor Championship back in February. Additionally, it was his second win over Shick this season following his 7-6(4), 7-6(3) win over him in the quarterfinals of national indoors.
After taking the time to adjust to collegiate tennis, Robertson has now completely taken over and won six-straight matches to bring his record to 8-6 on the year as he defeated Fons Van Sambeek (6-4, 6-4) on court four to clinch the regular season title.
The Scot has not lost since Feb. 25 and now holds a perfect 5-0 record against ACC opponents. He has quickly become one of the most clutch players in the nation with multiple clinching victories in huge matches. Of note, Wake Forest hasn't dropped the fourth singles court since Feb. 25 against UNCW and holds an incredible 21-2 record overall.

From Coach Bresky
"First off, credit to NC State on the season they've had. Awesome to play a match like this with two undefeated teams on the last Saturday of the ACC season. It was an amazing crowd, they did a great job with that. It felt like it was a pro-Wake Forest crowd so like I said, our fans are unbelievable. Credit to our guys. I think the ACC this year is clearly the toughest conference in the country. There's eight teams ranked in the top-25 in the country, and for us to go undefeated during the regular season, facing a ton of adversity and came out here and played a very good match. I'm excited for the boys to be ACC champions."
