
Ross Opens Wake Forest Invitational with Record-Breaking 10,000 Meters

In his first-ever 10,000-meter race, freshman Aidan Ross ran a time of 28:28.14, breaking the Kentner Stadium facility record at the Wake Forest Invitational.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest University and the track & field program kicked off the third annual Wake Forest Invitational on Thursday, opening competition with the men's and women's javelin, 5,000 meters and 10,000 meters.
Freshman Aidan Ross made a statement in his 10,000-meter debut, winning the race and shattering the Kentner Stadium facility record with a blazing time of 28:28.14 – nearly 45 seconds faster than the previous mark of 29:13.54 set in 2023. Fellow freshman Daniel Winter also impressed in his debut, finishing sixth with a time of 38:59.60.
Ross now ranks fourth on Wake Forest's all-time outdoor list, while Winter sits sixth.
Earlier in the day, Rosa Gergely and Julia Pinter opened the meet in the women's javelin. Gergely claimed first place with a throw of 47.29 meters, while Pinter followed closely behind in second with a throw of 43.33.
