
Wake Forest Falls to Florida State in Tightly Contested ACC Championship

The Deacs earned their fourth ACC Championship appearance under the leadership of head coach Kim Lewellen.
GREENSBORO, N.C. - In a tightly contested battle with the No. 2 seeded Florida State squad, Wake Forest women's golf narrowly fell to the Seminoles 3-2 in the final round of match play to win the ACC Championship.
Florida State would grab the first point of the match, but Wake Forest followed close behind.
Facing the no. 1 globally ranked Lottie Woad, junior Anne-Sterre den Dunnen showcased her years of experience and remained within two points throughout the round. She recorded Wake Forest's first point of the day with a par in hole 17 to finish 2&1.
After a dominant round two, sophomore Macy Pate led the Demon Deacons to their second match point of the afternoon. The Winston-Salem native made a par on hole fifteen to finish 4&3 and take the lead for the Deacs.
With two matches remaining, Wake Forest led 2-1-2 after freshman Sarah Lydic carded a birdie to tie her match back up. Both Lydic and Chacarra entered hole 18 tied up with the championship on the line.
Florida State's Kaylah Williams tied the match up for the Seminoles, leaving the ACC title match down to the final hole. The Seminoles would ultimately take the final hole to claim the conference title.
