Wake Forest Women’s Golf Set for NCAA Regional in Texas

5/3/2025 10:02:00 PM | Women's Golf

This is the Deacons' 32nd straight regional appearance, dating back to 1993.

LUBBOCK, Texas - The No. 7 nationally seeded Wake Forest women's golf team will begin NCAA regional play tomorrow, May 3, in Lubbock, Texas, at The Rawls Golf Course hosted by Texas Tech.

This marks only the second time in the program's history that the Deacs have competed at The Rawls, the last of which was during the 2004-05 season, providing an exciting opportunity for this year's squad.

Wake Forest continues their postseason play following another successful regular season, highlighted by three team victories across the fall and spring, along with an individual win for senior Carolina Chacarra. Their recent performance at ACCs saw the Deacs take down No. 1 Stanford in match play to advance to the final round for the title, but ultimately fell 3-2 to Florida State.

Round one of three for the Deacons begins at 2:30 PM ET against No. 1 seed Texas and No. 3 seed Arizona.

Postseason Accolades
Prior to receiving their regional bid, the Demon Deacons showcased their talents at the 2025 ACC Championship. Performances from senior Carolina Chacarra, sophomore Macy Pate, and freshman Chloe Kovelesky earned the Deacon trio a spot on the 2025 All-ACC team.

Championship Format
Six 54-hole regional tournaments will be conducted, May 5-7, to determine the qualifying teams and individuals who will compete at the national championship in Carlsbad, Calif. Twelve teams and six individuals not on those teams will compete at each Regional site. The low five teams and the low individual not on those teams will advance to the championships.

  • A minimalist by reputation, architect Tom Doak and his team from Renaissance Golf stepped out of that role for this design, moving 1.3 million yards of topsoil to sculp a course described by the architect as "probably the most complicated we've done to date." Creating an entire landscape from scratch, they shaped the earth to mimic the land east and south of Lubbock, where the great plain suddenly starts falling into the valleys and canyons that lead to the Caprock region. The result is a 7,207-yard, par-72, feat of engineering that fully exemplifies Doak's philosophies on design and strategy, most notably the unusually wide fairways and boldly contoured greens.
