The two student-athletes will head to the Virginia Beach Regional Training Center in Virginia Beach, Va. from July 18 to 20.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest field hockey junior Ava Moore and incoming freshman Calista Boos have been selected to compete in the 2025 Senior Nexus Championship (NXC), presented by Osaka Hockey, as announced by USA Field Hockey on Monday.
"We are thrilled to see Ava and Calista recognized on this national platform," head coach Jen Averill said. "Ava has continued to develop her game with poise and consistency, while Calista is already making an impact with her athleticism and drive. This is a great honor for both players and a testament to their commitment to the game."
A rising junior, Moore started 16 matches while appearing in all 18 games as a sophomore. She recorded her first point of the year with an assist at James Madison and added the third goal of her career and first of the season against Cal. The Southampton, N.J. native totaled 20 shots with 10 on frame during her second season.
With seven caps at the junior level, Moore was also selected to the Team USA Women's 2025 Junior Pan American Games set to take place in August.
Set to join the Deacs for the 2025 season, Boos helped lead Central Bucks High School West to a 21-5 record with six goals and seven assists as a senior. She competed at the Nexus Championship a year ago, helping Team Berlin to a third-place finish.
Boos was named to the 2025 U.S. U-18 Women's National Team back in February.
The Senior NXC is held annually and features 144 elite collegiate and post-collegiate athletes. During the spring and early summer, athletes trialed and trained at one of the seven USA Field Hockey Senior Nexus Training Sites throughout the country for an opportunity to be selected to the Senior NXC. All athletes that were previously named to the U.S. U-18 Junior Women's National Team's White Team Roster and U.S. U-21 Women's National Team were also included within the selection.
A step along the Olympic Development Pathway program, the Senior NXC serves as a selection opportunity for the 2025-26 U.S. U-21 Women's National Team Selection Camps, Junior USWNT Selection Camps, U.S. Women's National Development Squad and U.S. Women's National Team.
The event will start with a team training session on Friday, July 18 with games starting on Saturday, July 19.
The Wake Forest program celebrates these selections as a reflection of the strong culture of development and high performance within the team.
