The Wake Forest football team welcomes in-state opponent Western Carolina as part of Alumni Weekend and the Deacs’ Annual Gold Rush Game.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Wake Forest football team continues its four-game homestand to start the 2025 season against Western Carolina on Saturday, Sept. 6 at 2 p.m. ET on ACC Network.
Help us raise awareness for Childhood Cancer Awareness Month this September by purchasing the ticket package for our Gold Rush football game against Western Carolina on September 6 at 2 p.m. $35 will include a game ticket, a commemorative t-shirt, a $20 gift card to Strickland Brothers Oil Change, and a $15 donation to Atrium Health Levine Children's Brenner Children's Hospital.
Saturday's game between the Demon Deacons and the Catamounts will mark the fourth matchup in the all-time series and the first meeting between the two schools since the 1991 season. All three of the previous games have been played at Wake Forest.
The Deacs have outscored the Catamounts 92-34 across the previous three meetings.
In the most recent meeting between Wake Forest and Western Carolina, the Deacs came away with a 40-24 victory during the opening game of the 1991 season.
The Deacs and the Catamounts also met in back-to-back years in 1982 and 1983. Wake Forest defeated Western Carolina 31-10 in the first ever meeting between the two programs during the 1982 season, before shutting out the Catamounts, 21-0, the following year.
