LYNCHBURG, Va. – Highlighted by junior Seren Rodgers securing a third place finish in the pentathlon, the Wake Forest track and field program wrapped up the opening day of competition at the Brant Tolsma Invitational on Thursday afternoon at the Liberty Indoor Track Complex.
The Taunton, England native ended the day with 3,971 points, moving her into a tie for the third highest pentathlon finish in program history.
Rodgers finished on the podium in four of the five events, including a first place finish in the long jump after recording a jump of 5.89 meters, the sixth-best long jump in school history. Additionally, Rodgers jumped into the top-10 in the indoor high jump after recording a height of 1.65 meters, resulting in a second place result for the event.
Meanwhile, freshman Julia Aere recorded a sixth place result in the pentathlon after totaling 3,396 points over the course of the five events.
Notable Finishes
Women's Pentathlon
2025-26 Indoor Track and Field Top-10 Marks in School History
From the Staff
"Another week brings another great opportunity to compete. We don't get many chances to contest the combined events, so this meet was an important one for us. Both Seren Rodgers and Julia Aere are really coming into form as we reach the midway point of the indoor season. Seren delivered a terrific performance in the high jump and showed great consistency in the long jump, which pushed her to the 4,000 points barrier. Her score was an all-time personal best and moved her up on the Wake Forest Top-10 pentathlon list. Julia is also showing steady improvement across multiple disciplines, and that progress should continue to propel her forward. The great thing is that we now have time to get back to work and sharpen a few events before we contest the pentathlon again at the ACC Indoor Championships." - Assistant Coach Ryan Grinnell
