No. 5 Wake Forest Defeats Boston College in First ACC Road Win
10/2/2026 8:24:00 PM | Field Hockey
The Deacs powered a second-half comeback to win in overtime.
BOSTON, Mass. – The No. 5 Wake Forest field hockey team defeated Boston College on Friday night in an overtime battle.
Boston College held a 1-0 lead for three quarters.
Senior Ava Moore added a goal in the fourth quarter to tie the match.
Freshman Bianca Rees-Gibbs scored the game winning goal in overtime.
Sophomore goalie Ruby Butterfield recorded three saves and earned her seventh win of the season.
How It Happened
"Thrilled for the squad. I thought that we didn't start out the way we wanted and credit to BC. Our energy level was lacking, having said that we brought up two points at half time. Coaching staff was really secure with what needed to change and we made those adaptations. I am really proud of this group. It's a different kind of battle tonight that we were able to overcome. It is a fantastic hockey team we just played, so we are very excited with that victory."
The Deacs will stay in Boston and face No. 8 Harvard on Sunday at 12 p.m.
