No. 5 Wake Forest Falls to No. 8 Harvard in Cambridge
10/4/2026 4:22:00 PM | Field Hockey
Wake finishes the weekend 1-1 in Massachusetts.
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The No. 5 Wake Forest field hockey team fell to No. 8 Harvard on Sunday afternoon.
Wake Forest got on the board first off a penalty corner in the first quarter.
Harvard scored two goals in the final four minutes of the first half.
Both teams were held scoreless in the second half.
Sophomore goalie Ruby Butterfield recorded seven saves on the day.
How It Happened
"I think I can speak for the squad, they're disappointed. We played a brilliant first quarter and a lesson to learn of just keeping the game simple, playing the simple ball. Also, changing that up and being a little more aggressive. We were missing post ups today, missing some off the ball awareness, things that we can totally fix and we will fix. We are a much better team than what we showed today. Give credit to Harvard, they played some really great transition hockey today. Wake Forest is a phenomenal team and will continue to represent what we have. "
The Deacs will travel to California for two conference matchups facing Cal on Friday at 9 p.m. ET and Stanford on Sunday at 3 p.m. ET.
