Deacs Set to Battle for ACC Tournament Seeding on Senior & Graduates Day

With a win on Sunday, the Deacs would match the highest ACC win total in the Megan Gebbia era and be more than the last two seasons combined and earn the No. 14 seed in the upcoming ACC Tournament.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Wake Forest women's basketball team will be in search of its fifth ACC road win of the season Sunday afternoon on Senior & Graduates Day with tipoff scheduled for 4:00 p.m. (ET) at Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum.
With a win on Sunday, the Deacs would match the highest ACC win total in the Megan Gebbia era and be more than the last two seasons combined. Additionally, the matchup will be a winner take all for the No. 14 seed in the ACC Tournament.
The Demon Deacons (14-15, 4-13 ACC) are off to their best start in the Megan Gebbia era and will also be in search of another signature NET victory to their resume late in the season. In the first 29 games, they have been propelled by 17.1 assists per game which ranks 29th in the country and third in the ACC. The Deacs have seen the emergence of sophomore forward Grace Oliver this season as she is averaging a team-high 14.1 points per game and also ranking eighth nationally with 60.1 percent shooting from the floor which ranks first in the ACC by nearly five percent. Going into Sunday, the Deacs ranked nationally and sixth in the ACC, holding opponents to just 38.8 shooting from the field and also ranking 38th nationally in field goal percentage offense which is fourth in the ACC while also ranking 89th with 26.6 defensive rebounds per game.
The Seminoles (9-20, 4-13 ACC) come into the game on a four-game losing streak with their last win coming against Boston College on Feb. 12. The Noles run a fast-tempo offense that leads the conference with 25.7 three-point attempts per game and ranks 24th nationally and they also rank third in the conference with 8.0 threes made per game. Florida State has also done a good job around the rim this season, ranking fifth in the conference and 33rd nationally with 4.6 blocks per game while also ranking 43rd nationally with 40.6 rebounds per game. On offense they are led by Solè Williams who is averaging 15.4 points per game while also ranking 33rd nationally and third in the conference with an 86.6 free throw percentage.
Tipoff for Sunday is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. (ET) at LJVM Coliseum.

Assists On Made Baskets
Wake Forest finished with 18 assists on 22 made baskets for the contest (81.8 percent). In 29 games this season, the Demon Deacons have totaled 495 assists on 723 field goals (68.5 percent) which would mark the highest percentage in a single season within the Megan Gebbia era.
The Demon Deacons are averaging 17.1 assists, fourth in the ACC behind Virginia's 17.7 and Duke's 17.3 assists. Additionally, the Deacs are on pace to have the second-most assists in program history and the 17.1 assists per game currently ranks fourth in program history:

The Deacs did an excellent job of moving the ball last season, as they assisted on 394 of 667 made baskets this season (59.1 pct.). This was the highest assist percentage in the Gebbia era and the assist percentage ranks in the top 70 percent in the nation according to HerHoopStats.
In 2023-24, the Deacs assisted 404 of 694 made field goals (58.2 percent).
Forcing Them Over
The Demon Deacons forced the Wolfpack into 14 turnovers. Wake Forest has forced 10 or more takeaways 95 times in the last 98 games, a stretch dating back to January of 2022.
Through 29 games, the Demon Deacons have forced 14.0 turnovers per game.
Owning the Paint
The Demon Deacons had another excellent game in the paint, with 30 points posted inside while allowing NC State to score 28, a two-point deficit.
Across 29 games, the Deacs have totaled 916 points in the paint (31.6 per game).
Sharpshooting Deacs
Against the Eagles on Sunday, Wake Forest had another fantastic performance from three, going 12-for-27. So far this season, the Demon Deacons have knocked down 191 threes (6.6 3FG per game).
Over the last 16 games, the Demon Deacons have five double-digit three-point performances coming against Gardner-Webb, Pitt, NC State, Clemson, Virginia and Boston College. During that stretch, Wake Forest is averaging 7.3 threes made per game and the 117 threes made have accounted for 60.0 percent of the threes made for the entire season. Additionally, the Deacs are shooting at a high clip during that 16-game stretch, knocking down 117-of-293 3FG (39.9 pct.).
The Deacs finished the 2024-25 season knocking down 159 threes (5.5 3FGM per game). This included seven games with eight or more threes made.
Through the first three seasons under head coach Megan Gebbia, the Demon Deacons hit 590 threes in 95 games under her direction (6.2 3FGM per game).

Grace is Historically Efficient
So far this season, sophomore forward Grace Oliver has been one of the most efficient players in the country, leading the ACC in field goal percentage and ranking eighth nationally, shooting 60.1 percent from the field:

Additionally, she has had one of the best seasons in program history as her 60.1 percent ranks sixth in Wake Forest history.
In a win over Gardner-Webb in December, Oliver finished the night going a perfect 14-for-14 from the floor, setting the ACC and Wake Forest record for field goal attempts without a miss. The previous ACC record was 12-of -12 from the floor by four players and was last done by Kalista Walters (Pittsburgh) against Chicago State on Dec. 31, 2017.
Additionally, this is just the ninth known occurrence in NCAA history of a player making 14 or more shots without a miss and first since Tinara Moore (CMU) on Jan. 9, 2016.

Additionally, she recorded a new career-high with 30 points, breaking her previous high of 21 points against Mercer on Nov. 13. It also marks the first 30-plus point game by a Wake Forest forward since Dearica Hamby tallied 32 points against Georgia Tech on Feb. 28, 2015.

- Oliver is averaging 18.3 points over the last four games, with three of the four games resulting in 20-plus points. The Norwell, Mass.-native. was 8-for-12 from the field and 4-for-5 from the line, with six boards, two blocks and three steals.
- Junior guard/forward Mary Carter and graduate student forward Emily Johns combined for 23 points. Johns had her best game of the season from deep, knocking down 3-of-4 threes and accounting for half of the team total.
- The Deacs were strong in the paint, with 30 points posted inside, while allowing NC State to score 28.

- Hinds led the way for the Demon Deacons, recording her fourth career double-double performance and the second of the season. Hinds ended the night matching her career-high of 18 points while also having a career-high 13 rebounds in the defeat. She was efficient from the field with a 9-of-15 shooting performance. Only sophomore guard Rylie Theuerkauf has had more field goals in a game this season for the Deacs.
- Hinds had a strong opening half when she scored 10 points on 5-of-7 field goals while also leading the team with five rebounds as she was well on her way to a double-double.
- Joining Hinds in double figures were three other Demon Deacons as senior guard Elise Williams, senior guard Raegyn Conley and Theuerkauf all found their way to double digits in the second half.
- Conley shot an efficient 4-of-5 from the field with her lone miss coming from three while also grabbing five rebounds. For the second-straight game, she tied her career-high with four assists.
