Deacs Close Out Two-Meet Weekend at Camel City Distance Meet

Sophomore Wes Shipsey secured a first place finish in the men’s 800m as his time of 1:50.61 moved him into the top-10 in Wake Forest history.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Wake Forest track and field team closed out their weekend at home as the Demon Deacons competed at the Camel City Distance meet on Saturday afternoon at the JDL Fast Track.
Sophomore Wes Shipsey led the way for the Demon Deacons as he secured a first place finish in the men's 800m. The Portland, Ore., native recorded a time of 1:50.61, helping him jump into tenth all-time in the men's indoor 800m in Wake Forest history.
Two other Deacs placed inside the top-10 in the men's 800m, with freshman Andrew Riley securing a fourth place result after clocking a personal-best time of 1:52.41, and fellow freshman Adam Petitjean clinching a ninth place finish with a time of 1:53.24.
Elsewhere, senior Andrew Kivett notched a personal-best time of 4:09.56 to place fourth in the men's mile.

The Demon Deacons are back in action next weekend as they are set to compete in three meets.
The Deacs kick the weekend off with a pair of two-day meets, with one group heading to Boston to compete in the David Hemery Valentine Invitational, while another group will compete in the Darius Dixon Invitational at the Liberty Indoor Track Complex. Both meets will be held on Friday, Feb. 13 and Saturday, Feb. 14.
Meanwhile, several Demon Deacons will stay local as they compete in the ASICS Sound Invite on Saturday, Feb, 14 at the JDL Fast Track.
