No. 6 Demon Deacons Return to Hilton Head

During last year’s competition, the Deacs secured a fourth place finish with a top-10 performance from then-sophomore Macy Pate.
HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. - The No. 6 Wake Forest women's golf team is prepped for its next spring tournament as it returns to the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate at Long Cove Club in Hilton Head Island, S.C.
The Demon Deacons' lineup features two athletes ranked in the top-20 on Scoreboard: No. 11 Macy Pate and No. 18 Chloe Kovelesky. Freshman Cartoon Rujiranan will make her debut in the five-player lineup. Rujiranan competed twice this past fall, with a season-low round at the Pirate Collegiate Classic to clinch her first collegiate title.
Pate has extended her strong fall, with a T3 finish at the Moon Golf Invitational. The Winston-Salem, N.C.-native has carded two top-three finishes, including her win at the Stephens Cup, as well as a top-15 finish at the Landfall Tradition so far this year.
Senior Anne-Sterre den Dunnen marked her strongest performance yet this past February as she carded a season-low round of 67. The Almere, Netherlands-native recorded her best finish of the season, in T3 alongside Pate.
This year's tournament will be televised live each day beginning at 2:30 p.m. ET by Golf Channel.
Round one for the Deacons begins at 11:10 a.m. ET. Wake Forest will be paired with No. 8 Arkansas and Ohio State.
Last Time Out (Moon Golf Invitational)
With strong performances from junior Macy Pate and senior Anne-Sterre den Dunnen, the no.7-ranked Wake Forest women's golf team claimed a fourth place finish among a highly competitive field at the Moon Golf Invitational at Suntree CC in Melbourne, Fla. The Demon Deacons finished above No. 5 Florida, as well as above all conference opponents.
Den Dunnen totaled 11 birdies, the most among the Deacs, and third on the individual boards. The competition marked her highest career-finish, surpassing her fifth-place finish at last year's competition.
