Perez, Wilson Earn All-American Honorable Mention Honors; Deacs Open Competition at NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships

Junior Brooke Wilson recorded a season-best time of 33:05.05 to place 19th, while fellow junior Angelina Perez recorded a 24th-place finish in the women’s 10,000 meter final.
EUGENE, Ore. – The Wake Forest track and field team opened competition at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Thursday evening at Hayward Field, as juniors Angelina Perez and Brooke Wilson were both named All-American Honorable Mentions in the women's 10,000 meters.
Wilson led the way for the Demon Deacons as she recorded a season-best time of 33:05.05 to place 19th. Meanwhile, Perez concluded her stellar junior campaign as she logged a 24th-place finish with a time of 33:45.96.
Earlier in the evening, senior Elizabeth Whaley secured her spot in the final of the women's 1500 meters after a stellar semifinal heat. Whaley earned the final at-large qualifying spot after posting a personal-best time of 4:08.52. With the result, the Cincinnati, Ohio, native broke her own school record, which she had set earlier in the season at the Wake Forest Invitational.
Whaley will now look to win an NCAA individual title on Saturday afternoon, with the NCAA final scheduled for 8:12 p.m. ET.
