Levonas and Lewis Named All-Americans

The Demon Deacons have had 19 student-athletes receive All-America honors under head coach Tom Walter.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Wake Forest baseball's Chris Levonas was named a consensus All-American, while teammate Kade Lewis earned recognition from the ABCA for his play this season.

Levonas continued to cement his place among the country's elite pitchers during his sophomore season, earning First Team All-ACC honors after posting a 10-3 record with a 2.82 ERA across 15 starts. The right-hander struck out 116 batters in 73.1 innings while holding opponents to a .171 batting average, leading the Demon Deacons in both wins and strikeouts.
Levonas was dominant throughout the spring, recording five double-digit strikeout performances and averaging 14.2 strikeouts per nine innings, ranking sixth in the nation. His most impressive outing came on Feb. 28 against Loyola Marymount when he fanned a season-high 14 batters over 6.0 hitless innings. He also reached double figures in strikeouts against Siena, Florida State, California and Duke while consistently giving Wake Forest a chance to win every weekend.
The sophomore allowed two earned runs or fewer in 12 of his 15 starts and picked up victories over Washington, Siena, Loyola Marymount, Stanford, Virginia, California, Pitt, NC State, Western Carolina and Duke. He finished the year with 59 fly-ball outs, 38 ground-ball outs and 29 strikeouts looking, helping lead the Demon Deacons to an NCAA Regional appearance while establishing himself as one of the conference's premier arms.

Lewis appeared in 59 of Wake Forest's 60 games, making 59 starts while splitting time between first base and third base. He earned All-ACC Second Team honors after batting .354 with a .444 on-base percentage and a .592 slugging percentage.
Offensively, Lewis finished second on the Demon Deacons with 79 hits and 58 RBIs while adding 12 doubles, one triple and 13 home runs. He scored 57 runs, drew 34 walks and totaled 26 extra-base hits and 132 total bases. He recorded 27 multi-hit games and 19 multi-RBI performances, including a season-high four-RBI outing against NC State on April 19.
He homered in six straight conference games against Louisville and Georgia Tech, including a pair on Saturday against the Yellow Jackets, and finished eighth during the regular season with 34 RBIs in conference play.
Lewis was nearly unstoppable against Coastal Carolina and NC State, going 10-for-14 (.714) with 10 RBIs and six runs scored across four games en route to National and ACC Player of the Week honors.
He saved his best for conference play, erupting against the Wolfpack by finishing 8-for-10 with nine RBIs, five runs scored and three home runs in the three-game set. Lewis homered in each game of the series, matching his longest home run streak of the season.
