No. 3 Wake Forest Falls in Overtime to No. 5 Duke in ACC Opener

Deacs are back with ACC action on Sunday.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The No. 3 Wake Forest field hockey team fell to No. 5 Duke on Friday night.
The Deacs got on the board quickly, just two minutes into the match. Freshman Bianca Rees-Gibbs scored off a beautiful pass from fellow freshman, Sela Provenzano.
Senior Ava Moore scored off a penalty as time expired in the third quarter.
Duke was held scoreless through three quarters.
Duke recorded two goals in the final 12 minutes of regulation to send the game to overtime.
The Blue Devils scored the game-winning goal 13 minutes into overtime to grab the win.
How It Happened
"I thought we created enough opportunities to turn momentum back to Wake. Duke in the first part of the fourth quarter had tremendous resilience and we were on our backfoot too often and they punished us for that. We're going to do a little bit of film watching tomorrow and continue to work on our off-ball movement and continue to grow. I am still incredibly proud of this squad. We are a talented squad and we just need to be firing on all cylinders for four quarters. "
The Deacs will continue conference play at home against No. 11 Syracuse on Sunday at 12 p.m.
