Senior Patrycja Lagida earned a spot on the All-Tournament team after finishing the weekend with 39 kills.

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Wake Forest volleyball team (2-3, 0-0 ACC) dropped its final game of the Wake Forest Invitational to Georgetown (4-2, 0-0 Big East) by a final score of 3-1 on Sunday afternoon at Varsity Arena.

Graduate student Ryleigh Whitekettle led the Demon Deacons with 13 kills while also providing three digs and a pair of service aces.

Sophomore Amina N'Diaye recorded her first double-digit kill performance as a Demon Deacon, ending the match with 11 kills. The Orlando, Fla., native also recorded a pair of blocks and a pair of digs against the Hoyas.

Meanwhile, senior outside hitter Patrycja Lagida finished the match with nine kills and six digs. Over the course of the three-match weekend, Lagida tallied 40 kills and 35 digs, as well as eight blocks and three assists, earning her a spot on the Wake Forest Invitational All-Tournament team.

Making her second career start, freshman setter Emma Keeping totaled a team-high 35 assists to go along with eight digs and a pair of service aces. Additionally, the Imlay City, Mich., native recorded a career-high six kills on Sunday.

Overall, the Deacs put pressure on the service line throughout the match, finishing with six aces.

How It Happened

Sophomore Amina N'Diaye got the Demon Deacons on the board first in the opening set with a kill on the right side.
The Demon Deacons went on an 8-1 run to take a six-point lead and force a Georgetown timeout.
- Senior Patrycja Lagida notched a pair of kills, while graduate student Ryleigh Whitekettle and redshirt senior Sanaa Williams tacked on a kill each.
- After a pair of attack errors by the Hoyas, Whitekettle capped off the run with a service ace to make it 8-2.
The Deacs continued to push their lead as sophomore Amina N'Diaye logged her first kill of the match to put the Deacs up by eight.
Following a short Georgetown spurt, N'Diaye and redshirt junior Catherine Burke combined for a block to make it 13-6.
Freshman Emma Keeping registered the Deacs' second ace of the set to extend the advantage to nine points.
Wake Forest added a three-point swing to push the lead to double-digits.
- Junior Dhru Lalaji closed out the run with a service ace to make it 19-8.
The Deacs fended off a late surge by the Hoyas to take the first set, 25-18.
- N'Diaye recorded her third kill of the match to give the Deacs the one-set lead.
After trading points early in the second set, the Demon Deacons utilized a 4-0 run to take an 8-6 advantage.
- Whitkettle tallied a kill and a service ace during the four-point swing.
Georgetown went on a 8-2 run.
The Demon Deacons cut the deficit to five points late in the second set, with Burke and N'Diaye adding kills while Keeping logged her second ace of the match.
The Hoyas won the second set, 25-19.
After Georgetown opened the third set on a 5-1 run, the Demon Deacons rattled off four-straight points to tie the set.
- Burke, Lagida and Whitekettle all registered kills in the run.
Williams and Whitkettle combined on a block to give Wake Forest an 8-6 lead.
The Deacs and Hoyas traded points throughout the middle stages of the third set.
Following an extended Georgetown run, Wake Forest cut the deficit to 22-18 on a block by Williams and sophomore Sadie Poeck.
Georgetown took the third set, 25-20.
Whitekettle recorded her 10th kill of the match to put the Demon Deacons on the board in the fourth set.
After the Hoyas built a two-point lead, the Deacs went on a four-point surge to make it 8-6.
Wake Forest and Georgetown traded points once again, with N'Diaye moving into double-digit kills to tie the set at 14-14.
The Deacs responded to a Georgetown run with a three-point swing to move within two points.
- Lagida and Whitekettle both logged kills during the run.
Georgetown took the fourth set, 25-19.
- The Demon Deacons fell, 3-1.

Standout Stats

Graduate student Ryleigh Whitekettle led the Deacs with 13 kills against the Hoyas.
- This marked her third double-digit kill match of the season, having logged 10 kills against Davidson on Friday and a season-high 18 kills at LSU.
Sophomore Amina N'Diaye surpassed double-digit kills for the first time as a Demon Deacon, ending the match with 11 kills.
Senior Patrycja Lagida ended the three-match tournament with a team-high 40 kills, as well as 35 digs, eight blocks and three assists.
- The Chotomow, Poland, native has recorded 54 of her 55 kills over her last four matches.

"Consistency is the key early in the season, and we didn't have it today. We played really well in moments, but you can't win volleyball matches in moments. We've got to learn how to play consistently over time and this is a good opportunity to do it. We got some young players in today in our third match of the weekend. It was a good experience for them, but we've got to have our veterans play consistently. That's what we have to take from this one."
