Wake Forest Set to Host Mississippi State in the “Showdown at the Net” ACC/SEC Challenge

The Demon Deacons are 2-0 all-time against the Bulldogs, with their most recent matchup coming in the 2023 season.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Continuing its seven-match homestand, the Wake Forest volleyball team is set for its fourth match in five days as it hosts Mississippi State in the "Showdown at the Net" ACC/SEC Challenge on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at Varsity Arena.
Admission is free, and the match will be streamed live on ACC Network Extra.

Fan Information
There will continue to be free general admission seating for all home volleyball matches. The team plays each home contest in Varsity Arena, located on the third level of Reynolds Gymnasium (21 Wingate Road, Winston-Salem, N.C. 27109).
Parking is encouraged in lots J, U and W1. A complete parking map of campus is here.
Greek Wars
Tuesday's match will also serve as the start of the first-ever Greek Wars. The fraternity or sorority chapter with the highest attendance across the next four matches will win a $1,500 donation toward their philanthropic efforts. The winners will also receive a framed, signed jersey for their chapter. Meanwhile, the second-place and third-place chapters will receive a pizza party for their chapter, all courtesy of Wake Forest volleyball.
Attendance will be tracked through each chapter's Deacon Cup rosters and will count towards their Deacon Cup standings.

Double-Double Machine
Senior Patrycja Lagida has been on an impressive run, having totaled three double-doubles this season. The Chotomow, Poland, native recorded her first double-double of the season in the win over Houston, finishing the match with 14 kills and 13 digs. Lagida carried that momentum into the Wake Forest Invitational as she recorded double-doubles in the first two matches of the tournament, tallying 16 kills and 14 digs against Davidson and 15 kills and 15 digs in the win over UCF.

The Demon Deacons close out their seven-match homestand as they host the DEACTOWN Invitational from Sept. 11-13. The Deacs will face in-state rival East Carolina on Friday at 6:30 p.m., Georgia Southern on Saturday at 5 p.m. and ETSU on Sunday at 2 p.m.

- Wake Forest battled Alabama in a five-set thriller in the first edition of the "Showdown at the Net" ACC/SEC Challenge last season in Tuscaloosa.
- Paige Crawford led the Demon Deacons with 22 kills while also adding a pair of service aces against the Crimson Tide.
- Patrycja Lagida notched an 11-kill, 14-dig double-double.
- Sanaa Williams recorded a team-high nine blocks.
Last Time Out
- The Demon Deacons are coming off hosting the annual Wake Forest Invitational from Sept. 4-6.
- The Deacs finished the tournament with a 1-2 record, picking up a five-set win over UCF on Saturday evening.
- Senior outside hitter Patrycja Lagida led the Demon Deacon attack as she notched a 15-kill, 15-dig double-double.
- Freshman setter Emma Keeping recorded a career-high 45 assists in her first career start, moving her past the 100-assist mark for the season.
- Sophomore outside hitter Amina N'Diaye tallied 12 kills against the Knights, while redshirt junior middle blocker Catherine Burke added four blocks and a career-high 10 kills in the win.
- Lagida earned a spot on the Wake Forest Invitational All-Tournament Team as she tallied 40 kills and 35 digs across the three matches.
- The Deacs finished the tournament with a 1-2 record, picking up a five-set win over UCF on Saturday evening.

- Mississippi State heads into Winston-Salem with a 4-1 record, highlighted by a pair of 3-1 wins over Iowa and Northwestern in the Big Ten/SEC Challenge over the weekend.
- Junior Bernadita Aguilar recorded a 20-kill, 17-dig double-double, while sophomore Lindsey Mangelson logged 19 kills and 11 digs against the Hawkeyes.
