Heckard graduated from North Carolina with a Bachelor of Arts in Exercise and Sports Science in 2020. In 2022, she earned her Master’s degree from UNC, also in Exercise and Sports Science. The Winston-Salem native is serving as the athletic trainer for the Wake Forest field hockey team and women's tennis program.
 
Heckard grew up a fan of Wake Forest athletics. She has formerly lived outside of Toronto, Canada and is a huge hockey fan.
