Bob Bartholomew

Bob Bartholomew enjoyed an outstanding four-year career as a starting tackle for Wake Forest football teams from 1952-55. He was named to the All-ACC team three seasons and was selected as national lineman of the week after a 1954 contest with Maryland, the defending national champion at the time. As a senior and team captain in 1955, Bartholomew earned both All-America and Academic All-America honors, becoming the first Wake athlete so honored. He went on to play professionally with the Montreal Alouettes of the Canadian Football League in 1956.
He served WFU as director of the Deacon Club for more than 16 years (1968-1984) and was inducted into the WFU Sports Hall of Fame in 1984. He is also a member of the North Carolina Sports Hall of Fame.
Bartholomew was born April 20, 1932 in Rocky Mount. He died on April 19, 1984.
