Engel Advances To Quarterfinals Of All-American Tournament

PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif.--Wake Forest freshman Adria Engel advanced to the quarterfinals of the All-American Women's Tennis Championships on Friday.
Engel defeated Catarina Markovsky of South Carolina 6-3, 6-0 and advances to play Laura Granville of Stanford in the quarterfinals later today.
Junior Mariel Verban played Granville in the second round Friday and was tied 6-4, 5-7 when she was forced to withdraw due to an ankle injury.
Sophomore Janet Bergman defeated Maureen Diaz of California-Irvine 7-5, 6-4 in the consolation bracket of the tournament.
