WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Senior Amanda Janney (Fort Worth, TX) scored off a pass from senior Kelly Simon (Wall, NJ) to lead Wake Forest (2-4) to a 3-2 overtime victory against 19th ranked William & Mary (4-2) at Kentner Stadium on Friday afternoon. Wake Forest is 1-2 in overtime games this season.
Trailing 2-1 with 4:30 left in the second half, the Deacon's Janney scored from inside the circle to knot the game at two. The Tribe came up about an inch short of winning the game in overtime as Deacon goalkeeper Jaime Tressler (Hummelstown, PA) made a diving save to keep the ball from crossing the goal line early in the extra period.
The Deacons outshot the Tribe by a count of 26-10.
Wake Forest continues non-conference play on Sunday, Sept. 20. The Deacons will be looking for their second straight upset as they host number 10 Kent State at Kentner Stadium. Gametime is slated for 1 p.m.
