Neil MacMillan Named Assistant Field Hockey Coach

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Neil MacMillan has been named assistant field hockey coach at Wake Forest University, joining eighth-year head coach Jennifer Averill's staff. MacMillan will serve as the Demon Deacons' goalkeepers coach, while also working with the defensive backfield.
MacMillan, 25, is a 1996 graduate of Loughborough University in Leicestershire, England, where he received a bachelor's degree in civil engineering. From 1993 to 1996, he was the First XI goalkeeper for the Loughborough Students Hockey Club, which won the British Universities Championship in 1994-95 and was runner-up in 1995-96. From 1996 to 1998, he represented the St. Albans Hockey Club First XI in the National League Division I.
Since September of 1996, MacMillan has been formally employed as a math teacher at the Stamford School in Lincolnshire, England, while completing his postgraduate teaching certificate. He has served as the coach of the school First XI hockey team for the past two seasons, as well as coaching the Under-14 XI squad.
MacMillan is also an accomplished cricket player.
