WINSTON-SALEM, NC - The 11th-ranked Wake Forest women's tennis team defeated NC State, 8-1, on Saturday afternoon at the Indoor Tennis Center. With the victory, Wake Forest improves to 15-7 overall and 7-1 in ACC play while NC State falls to 15-6 and 5-3 in the ACC. The Demon Deacons clinched the match by sweeping five of six singles flights. Mariel Verban, Lule Aydin, Dorothee Kurz, Annemarie Milton and Jackie Houston all won singles matches for the Demon Deacons. Wake Forest took all three doubles matches, including No. 1 where Kurz and Nicola Kaiwai, ranked 7th in the nation, continued their fine play. Wake Forest will next return to action in the ACC Tournament held next Friday, Saturday and Sunday in Atlanta, GA. The Demon Deacons finished second in the ACC regular season for the fourth straight year.
