Wake Forest Men's Tennis Earns NCAA Regional Bid

WINSTON-SALEM, NC - The Wake Forest men's tennis team earned an invitation to the 1998 NCAA Tennis Championships, as announced today by the NCAA.

Wake Forest will be making its first appearance in the NCAA Tournament in school history after posting a 14-11 record this spring.

The Demon Deacons are seeded seventh in the Region II Championship, which will be held May 15-17 in Richmond, VA. Wake Forest will take on the #2 seed and host Virginia Commonwealth (22-6) in the regional quarterfinals. The two schools met earlier this season in Winston-Salem, with VCU claiming a 5-2 victory.

Other teams selected to compete in the Region II Championship are #1 seed South Carolina (18-7), #3 seed Virginia (16-7), #4 seed North Carolina (14-8), #5 seed Georgia Tech (14-12), #6 seed Florida State (16-7) and #8 seed Clemson (11-16).
