WFU Downs Ole Miss

MADISON, Wis. - The ninth-ranked Wake Forest women's tennis team advanced to the second round of the USTA/ITA National Team Indoor Championships by defeating the fourth-ranked Ole Miss Rebels 4-3 in first round action on Thursday.
The Deacons won two out of three doubles matches to capture the doubles point and then won three of the six singles points to win the match.
Bea Bielik, Janet Bergman and Maren Haus all won for the Deacs. Bielik, playing at the No. 2 position, defeated Ivona Mihailova. At the third position, Bergman defeated Celeste Frey. Haus played at No. 5 singles, defeating Marianna Eberle.
Wake Forest improves to 2-0 on the season with the win, while Ole Miss falls to 5-1. Wake Forest advances to the second round to take on Pepperdine who defeated New Mexico 7-1. The match is scheduled for Friday at 7:30 p.m.
