Demon Deacons Down Appalachian State

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Short stop Chase Voshell went 4-for-5 with four RBI to lead the 22nd-ranked Wake Forest Demon Deacons to a 10-3 victory over the Appalachian State Mountaineers at Hooks Stadium on Wednesday.
Junior pitcher Danny Borrell (2-1) pitched 6 1/3 innings, giving up three runs on six hits and striking out four batters to pick up the win for the Demon Deacons. Robbie Huffstetler (0-1) went five innings, surrendering seven runs on nine hits to take the loss for the Mountaineers.
Wake fell behind 3-0 early, but came back with seven runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to take the lead for good. The bulk of the seven runs was scored on three run home runs by Voshell and right fielder Carlos Brackley.
Cory Sullivan went 3-for-5 at the plate for the Deacs and Jamie Athas went 2-for-4. For Appalachian State, Michael Lee and Scotty Ofsanko each drove in a run.
With the win, Wake improves to 21-9-1 on the season, while ASU falls to 5-23-1. The Deacons will return to action on Friday when they begin a three-game ACC series with the Duke Blue Devils in Durham. The first pitch for Friday's game is set for 3 p.m.
